About

Miscellaneous: My Delicious Loose Ends is a blog by Esther Chase.

Miscellaneous is both an exercise and an exploration—to experiment with conventional writing techniques and new personas, and to find complementary ways of expressing myself through a variety of digital art forms centered in cultivating mindfulness. What began as a pandemic journal is now devoted to the process and products of an intentional creative practice.

Themes of the blog include art, food, journeys, nature, philosophy, spirituality, and writing. I’ve always been interested in these topics, and some of them have evolved into highly specific fields and genres, such as water conservation. I enjoy reading about science and technology, too. Find out what I’m reading on Goodreads.

My blog writing is structured and unstructured. Often I’m sharing a quote or ideas from what I’m learning. Sometimes I’m just journaling; however, I am making it more organized through discipline and planning. Other times, my ideas willingly fall into the form of poetry. Japanese styles appeal to me for their simplicity, themes, and structure. I don’t mind playing with just a few words and getting them to fit nicely into a style. It feels like creative editing.

From 2025 and beyond, I have three specific personal goals:

  • I will continue learning about macro photography and share aspects of the craft through my photos.
  • I will continue creating content for future ebooks that reflect how I’m evolving as a digital artist.
  • I will continue recording guided meditations that reflect how I’m evolving as a spiritual human.
