Many spiritual traditions suggest that beneath expectations, roles, worries, and noise, there is something steady within us.
In Buddhism, the idea of Buddha nature points to the possibility that wisdom, compassion, and peace are not things we must earn or become. They already exist within us, even if they sometimes feel obscured.
“Happiness is returning to the true self” is our an invitation to remember rather than achieve. Perhaps happiness is not found by adding more, but in gently setting things down.
