Conflicting Historical Advice on Water 2010

Do you remember the specific advice you’ve been given around water issues? Especially going back to when you were a child?

Our parents, teachers, and the media taught us what we know about water, but I haven’t heard anyone talking about conflicting historical advice on water issues. Take the following two videos into consideration:

What if you grew up in a home built before the 1980’s near the Great Lakes? The advice was “Let the water run.“

Or, what if you grew up in a home built in the 1990’s but it’s in an area of the country that experiences drought? The advice was “Don’t let the water run.“

So what should we do? And what should we think when the suggestions from public service announcements don’t align?

Most people would change nothing—continue as is. Obviously, we have a greater responsibility to be rational and creative problem solvers.
