Creative Journey
In a moment of reflection earlier today, I thought back to the origins of this natural journey and traced it forward from memory.
Almost three years ago, I took my first nature writing workshop online.
In the beginning, I would not say I had a big vision for how I wanted to put my writing into practice, but I let nature be my guide in a casual way. I knew I wanted to work on poetry, but it would definitely need extra layers of content for interest on social media. The whole concept took some time to develop in the back of my mind.
From improving my own Instagram’s ambiance, to starting a nonprofit and developing social media for it, as well as learning how to do professional photography, a bigger vision did take shape.
Every little thing we do is a sort of preparation for future aspirations.
Now I know: This is how I want to integrate my art, my work, and my life. It’s all about the layers.
I love making nature-inspired digital media, and artist collaborations are so much fun!
Career Journey
I’m also excited to share that Lovethe.Earth is getting closer to an official launch as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. I still like the idea of running it as a member-benefit cooperative that develops a database of product supply chain information, but I think that element will come to fruition later. In a nutshell, it will officially begin as a consumer education and sustainability organization.
The administrative details may not be very interesting, but we are incorporated in California, and we have received a federal employer tax identification number (FEIN). Next, we must apply for tax exempt status with the IRS, and file with the California Attorney General. After that, we can actually begin fundraising.
Growing the audience for our work through collaborations with like-minded artists will be the vegan icing on the cake.
Writing Poetry
If you like the monotetra poem, there are four more formats that together make a series I will eventually post on the blog: lune, mondo, monotetra, tricube, and waka. Earlier this year, I purchased The Complete Guide of Poetic Forms: 100+ Poetic Forms Definitions and Examples for Poets. I have made good use of it and I highly recommend it.
