This poetic duo celebrates the bold energetic flow of creativity.
1. Free Verse Poetry
A blitz poem is a fast-paced, free-flowing form built on repetition and momentum. With 50 lines and no punctuation, it moves in a continuous rush of ideas. The poem begins with two short phrases, followed by a series of lines where the second word of one line becomes the first word of the next. This cascading structure builds intensity, creating a sense of urgency and rhythm. The final two lines echo preceding words, bringing the piece full circle. The Blitz is less about rules and more about energy, allowing connections to emerge through its rapid stream of consciousness.
Part-Child is a poem with a social activism theme. Its words are not crafted as click-bait for marketing purposes to improve open rates with ideas of violence. It does mention a serious societal problem near the end of the poem that deserves attention but does not demand it. You may decide to skip past the poem entirely if needed. There is a second part to this blog post with digital art that is free of these themes. 💗
Part-Child, by Esther Chase
make your art
make your part
part of my heart
part of my days
days of gold
days to hold
hold me
hold please
please be kind
please be slow
slow life
slow age
age with grace
age with intent
intend to heal
intend to love
love one
love all
all for one
all for peace
peace within
peace around
around the house
around the world
world changes
world remains
remains grounded
remains centered
centered in community
centered in self
self as art
self as artist
artist creates
artist activates
activate truth
activate trust
trust in us
trust the just
just in time
just enough
enough of hate
enough of greed
greed devours
greed kills
kills the woman
kills the child
child-like heart
child of my soul
soul...
heart...
I learned about this form and others from The Complete Guide of Poetic Forms: 100+ Poetic Forms Definitions and Examples for Poets. I continue to make good use of it and I highly recommend it.
2. Mixed Media Digital Art
The featured image for this blog post is called elated, an abstract digital mixed media composition. As I composed it, I paused at various stages, slept on it, and made sure it says no more or no less than I had planned. I think it benefits from a full-screen slow look approach because there is more going on inside than a quick glance can possibly convey.

I recently learned the term slow looking as a form of art appreciation. Slow looking is a one-hour three-fold combination of meditation, mindfulness, and creative awareness. This approach has deepened my perception of creating and witnessing my own art—literally overnight. It reveals layers upon layers of meaning and value. Slow looking is one good way to begin the journey of art appreciation that is open to everyone because it doesn’t require any vocabulary, historical knowledge, or formal education to participate.
