‘S Marvelous

Silybum marianum, Blessed milk-thistle

‘S marvelous, that you should care for me. —Ira Gershwin, from the song, ‘S Wonderful

While considered an undesirable plant in the United States, blessed milk thistle received a marvelous double-take from me as I found one on a hiking path near Griffith Park last year. Would you believe that the leaves are eaten as salad greens in other parts of the world? Remarkable.

Beauty can be found anywhere—at any moment—if we are open to it.

Welcome to the #estagram series, a blog-based grid collection that conveys what I’m learning in my daily mindfulness practice.

Creating mantras I can repeat to myself helps me stay grounded in challenging moments, and it reminds me how worthy I already am. Macro photography is an art that reminds me to make moments for stillness and tranquility. Weaving together these mantras and macro moments into a special blog feed is an essential element of my mindfulness practice that deserves to be preserved.
